Saturday, May 28, 7:30 p.m. William Feasley Guitar An award-winning graduate of the Peabody Conservatory, Mr. Feasley has performed in the U.S., Europe and Australia, and is currently Artist in Residence at the University of Maryland. He will present his “French Perspective” program, combining music of Couperin, Debussy and Ravel with visual images of French Impressionist paintings.
Saturday, June 4, 7:30 p.m. The West Virginia Piano Quartet Violin, Viola, Cello and Piano Dr. James Miltenberger, graduate of the Eastman School of Music, Dr. Nicole Brockmann, with degrees from Carnegie Mellon and Yale University, William Skidmore, formerly with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Dan Skidmore, concertmaster and soloist for the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra, perform works by Schubert and Brahms.
Saturday, June 11, 7:30 p.m. marcolivia & Gregory Sioles Violin, Viola and Piano Marc Ramirez and Olivia Hajioff (marcolivia) have concertized across North America, Europe and Asia, at The Kennedy Center and Chicago’s Ravinia Festival, and are faculty at Shenandoah University. Mr. Sioles performs extensively in the U.S., and is faculty at The Peabody Conservatory and The Levine School of Music.
Saturday, June 18, 7:30 p.m. Enrico Elisi Piano Venice Festival prizewinner Enrico Elisi has performed throughout Europe, North America and Asia, at the Taos Chamber Music Festival and Carnegie Recital Hall. He directs the Piano Institute of the Las Vegas Music Festival. Mr. Elisi will play a solo recital program of works by Bach, Mozart, Chopin and Berg.
Saturday, July 2, 7:30 p.m. Dryden String Quartet Two Violins, Viola and Cello National Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Nurit Bar-Josef, NSO principal violinist Daniel Foster, Philadelphia Orchestra assistant principal cellist Yumi Kendall and Young Concert Artist Nicholas Kendall will perform a program of string quartets by Mozart, Janacek and Beethoven.
Saturday, July 9, 7:30 p.m. Steven Honigberg & Kathryn Brake Cello and Piano Graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, Mr. Honigberg is a member of the National Symphony Orchestra and principal cellist with the Sun Valley Summer Symphony. He performs on the “Stuart” Stradivarius cello. Ms. Brake holds degrees from Juilliard and Peabody Conservatory and has performed as a soloist with the NSO and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
Saturday, July 16, 7:30 p.m. Stylus Luxurians, a subset of the Orchestra of the 17th Century Period wind and string instruments This five member ensemble, based in Washington D.C., is dedicated to the exploration and promotion of music from the century that saw the birth of the modern notion of “orchestra.” Since there was no standardized orchestra for most of the 17th century, each performance is a unique experience in instrumental color.
Saturday, July 23, 7:30 p.m. The Francis Poulenc Trio Oboe, Bassoon and Piano The Trio brings together Russian pianist Irina Landes, faculty at Peabody Conservatory, Russian oboist Vladimir Landes, formerly principal oboist with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, and American bassoonist Bryan Young, principal bassoonist with the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra and graduate of Peabody Conservatory.
Saturday, August 6, 7:30 p.m. The Washington Balalaika Ensemble Balalaika, Domra and Bayan This five member ensemble plays Russian folk music and classical selections on traditional Russian folk instruments. Four of the musicians are graduates of conservatories and music colleges in St. Petersburg, Russia and Kiev, Ukraine; all are serious participants in this unique musical genre.
Saturday, August 13, 7:30 p.m. Vocal Quartet from The Metropolitan Opera Chorus Lyric Soprano, Mezzo-soprano, Lyric Tenor, Bass and Piano Ross Crolius, Laura Fries, Rosemary Nencheck and Daniel Clark Smith, all members of New York’s Metropolitan Opera Chorus, will present a program of songs inspired by dance; accompaniment by pianists Diane Guernsey and Michael S. Caldwell. Featured composers range from Brahms and Tchaikovsky to Cole Porter and Noel Coward.
Saturday, August 20, 7:30 p.m. Jonathan Carney & Enrico Elisi Violin and Piano Mr. Carney, concertmaster of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, is a graduate of Juilliard and the Royal College of Music. He has led the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and toured worldwide. With Mr. Elisi (see June 18) he will perform works by Beethoven, Brahms, Grossman and Schubert.
Saturday, August 27, 7:30 p.m. Mountain Thyme Songs and Traditional Folk Instruments West Virginia concert and recording artists Pam Curry, Jan Hartstein, Libby Musser and Linda Workman will present a mixed program of vocal and instrumental music, featuring Appalachian, Celtic and original works. They have been seen/heard on WV television and radio, and have performed in the U.S. and Ireland.
Saturday, September 3, 7:30 p.m. The Alta Schrock Memorial Fund Concert On September 3rd The Schrock Memorial Concert will feature a recital by the gifted young operatic soprano, Holly Hare, from the local area. In addition, this year we again offer student recitals from local studios and a workshop (TBA). |
