Messaien’s “Quartet for the End of Time” - West Virginia Chamber Ensemble

Violin, Cello, Clarinet, Piano

Olivier Messaien’s apocalyptic work was composed and first performed in the Stalag VIII prison camp in 1941. The ensemble comprises West Virginia University music faculty Margaret Cooper, William Skidmore, John Weigand, and James Miltenberger.

A “quartetto romantico” in the Italian tradition featuring Jonathan Jenson, David Evans, and Laura and Tony Norris. Classical works by mandolin masters as well as arrangements and original compositions by Jonathan Jenson.

Mr. Kolkay holds a Doctorate from Yale University; Dr. Lim, a native of Malaysia, earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance at West Virginia University and was the winner of the WVU Young Artist competitions in 1998 and 2000. Duet and solo works by Johannes Brahms, Carl Maria von Weber, Franz Berwald, George Perle, and Lowell Liebermann.
