Music at Penn Alps is a very small, low cost classical music festival with a dash of pops. It is a non-profit corporation, recognized by the Internal Revenue Service under Section 501 (c ) (3). As such all contributions are deductible as contributions on an income tax return.

Our very modest performers' fees account for over one half of all expenditures. Another 30% covers public relations and printing. The reminder supports office, mailing, reception, and other miscellaneous charges.

We derive our cash income from three general sources. Ticket sales provide about one third of all income. Corporate sponsorships account for a second third. Individual contributions account for the final third.
This distribution of income is characteristic of almost  all arts organizations.

We make every effort to minimize expenses by having our board of directors and other volunteers do a great amount of the work. Holding down costs and using volunteers reduces our dependence on contributions. Still, contributions of cash and in-kind services are a vital third of our income. Without the support of a large number of individuals we would be unable to continue.
